Dr. Timothy Niewold manages various leadership responsibilities as the vice chair of medicine for research and director of the Barbara Volcker Center for Women and Rheumatic Diseases at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. In addition, Dr. Timothy Niewold has published extensively on autoimmune diseases and rheumatology in journals and is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Immunological Methods.
For his efforts, Dr. Timothy Niewold has received numerous honors and awards during his career in medicine, including the Mary Betty Stevens Award from the Lupus Foundation of America and the Henry Kunkel Young Investigator Award from the American College of Rheumatology.
A University of Illinois College of Medicine graduate, Dr. Timothy Niewold has established affiliations with various medical facilities and professional organizations. He has been a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology since 2004 and a member of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association since 2008. His other memberships include the American Society for Human Genetics and the Central Society for Clinical Research, of which he has served as president.
